20-10-20: The Massacre

Remember the long walks
Remember the cries against injustice
Standing without wavering
Daringly demanding
That rogue guns
Stop staining our soil
With the very blood
They swore to protect

Remember 201020
Remember your cries for justice
Stifled by the very guns
You spoke against
They filled your throat
With wretched gas
Fed you Bullets
And watched gleefully
While you choked
On your own blood

Remember that Night
Remember how they stole life
From young bodies
Our hopes snatched forcefully
Like money pried
From unwilling hands
People waving flags
Drenched in blood

Remember the Flag
Remember the stories it told
The green obfuscated blood
Much like they hide lifeless bodies
After snuffing the life out
The white bled red
Like the bodies falling to the ground
Bleeding bodies lying lifeless
Streamed so seen but now denied
Stunning Switch

Remember the sounds
Remember the broken voices
Scared shitless
Singing peace and unity
The choruses of bullets from guns
Singing terror and chaos
Singing shooting
Loud songs of doom

Remember Families
Remember them sorrowfully searching
Plagued by piercing pain
Like bullets puncturing skin
Mothers, Brothers and Sisters
Waiting, wailing, cursing, checking
From Prisons to Hospitals
Making wishes
Praying you come forth like Lazarus
Where art thou?
Your Father fears

Remember the alternative facts
Remember the tales cooked by the Army
Garnished by People in power
Served by the Government
And forced on us by Monsters
Who cheered and jeered
In the face
Of such bold injustice

Remember 201020
Remember, this day
Though the fight be long and tortuous
Though our numbers be small
Though our souls be tired and weary
Though the goal be hindered and blurry
Our voices remain strong
For our Comrades
Who sang
In the darkest of nights

Beautiful masterpiece. A great picturesque of that sad and shocking night. Surely history will not forget and Justice will be served.

This is graphic but true...I fascinated by your use of words, you use words the same way a painter will use paint.
The reality of our country sadene me. How can we be drowning and dying of thirst at the same time? who can xplain this enigma-injustice, corruption, inhumanity.
The moment we stop leaving for others, that is when we stop being human.
Great piece! very provocative.
