Spun Into Gold 1

Narration

Have you ever loved? I'm talking about the undiluted feeling of attraction that makes you weak in the knees at the sight of your partner, or gets your heart skipping beats, and sometimes just beating so fast that you feel it will leap right out of your chest? Now, I'm not trying to sound like a teenage girl who is experiencing her first crush. I'm a 32-year old, fairly successful lady, and I’m in love with the renowned Bankole Christopher Drey, C.E.O of Chrey technologies and the founder of the Drey Banks foundation. The chocolate skinned, 6 ft, brown eyed, wealthy, tech guru who has the body of a god and is not scared to show it. How do I know so much about him? Besides the fact that his face is often splashed across the tabloids, big screens, and magazines, and he's perceived as the bad boy who makes the ladies swoon, I'm his friend, assistant director, and his wife Rosetta West Drey.

Going on, beneath all the hype and glamour that surrounds Banks (as he's fondly called) there is a side to him that is not picture perfect. The side that sometimes clings to alcohol, and long duration of isolation a lot more than technology and systems.  The side that struggles with the pain and discomfort of sickle cell anemia, and abandonment as a child. As his personal assistant, wife and friend, I know that Banks has scars right beneath all that macho man outlook, and if it's the last thing I do, I'll warm his heart, and I'll love him till the world stands still.  Even, then I'll love him more.

Now, I'm not entirely writing because of how I feel about Banks. I'm writing to show you a brief insight into the pain suffered by individuals with sickle cell anemia, and those suffering from abandonment issues. Banks is a man that despite his hurdles, managed to lean on God and spin his pain into gold and I believe everyone irrespective of painful occurrences in their lives, can create their own success stories.

It was a beautiful Thursday morning, the sun sent its golden rays through the thick curtains of my dimly lit room, amazing music blasted right through my home theatre and there I was in the shower enjoying the feel of cold water running down my body. My mouth opened up to sing along with the song playing from my speakers ‘dance with somebody by Whitney Houston' Almost immediately I started to sway my hips to the rhythm. Just then, I felt those familiar strong arms take ahold of my waist from behind and pull me towards that rock solid body that I've come to know and love.
“Oh come on tigress you can't move that way around me and expect me to behave” he whispered as he tilted his head to plant a kiss on my necks nape. His hot breath sent shivers down my spine.

With a smile playing on my lips, and the dirty part of my mind trying to convince me not to miss out on a steamy sex in the shower moment, I turned around and leaned in for a kiss. God, he kisses good.  After what seemed like forever, I broke away with a chuckle. “Now, the founder of Drey Banks foundation and CEO of one of Africa’s leading tech companies won't want to be late for his press conference and his appointment with foreign investors now would he?”
“Oh God, Rosetta” he responded his tone signaling disappointment and a desire to dodge the activities especially the press conference.
“Stop whining, the world is waiting” I replied as I stepped out of the shower and into the room.
Minutes later he and I were dressed. “Are you certain you’re ready to do this my  love? I asked.
“I think the people have a right to know the story behind the glory and the existence of the foundation. By the way, I'm all out to help less fortunate kids and people. They deserve all the care in the world”  He replied.
Without words, I extended my arms and wrapped him in a warm and reassuring embrace.
After what seemed like thirty seconds I said, “May God go with us.
“Amen” he replied
