Episode 2
We Need Each Other

Looking into Natasha’s eyes, Mrs. Ireti felt it in her bones. She has approached a
young woman with fire in her soul. A lawyer who would stop at nothing to get Justice. Then again, Natasha's reputation in town was enough to tell any raving lunatic that there’s a lady who has just the thing to cure any form of madness.
Still, there were some things she was yet to tell Natasha. Her mind began to wonder about how to bare her concerns out.
“If there's a problem, you do know you can talk to me right instead of just drifting off?” Natasha said breaking into the woman's thought process.
Giving out a sigh, she finally spoke.
“You speak deep words Natasha. Deep but relieving words. I however fear for two things. Firstly, I don't have a lot on me for your fees. Secondly, Tinu's husband Chief Dayo Arewa is a respected chief and I hear he has plans on running for a ministerial post in the state. What if he comes at us with all he has? He knows people in power you know?”
Oh that was it. Just like she has heard the most funny thing ever, Natasha burst into a hysterical laughter that lasted for nearly thirty seconds, therefore leaving the woman bewildered.
Finally able to regain her composure, she spoke up. “Mrs. Ireti. My people say that when a bird learns to fly without perching, the hunter would learn to shoot without missing” I didn't get to where I am by cowering for men like your son in-law. Trust me, when I'm done with him, he would learn some respect. As for my fees, don't worry about it. It's been a while since I did a pro bono case. I'm feeling inclined to do yours pro bono.
“Thank you so much Barrister Natasha” The woman said with obvious excitement, and a huge smile. “I'll have to be on my way then. I need to return to the hospital to stay with my daughter”
“Alright Mrs. Ireti. You're welcome. Speaking of the hospital, I would love to have a member of my legal team accompany you to the hospital and I’ll love him to have a few words with the doctor that’s treating your daughter. My schedule is a bit tight, if not I'll have come along myself”
“oh okay” Mrs. Ireti said nodding in consent. Instantly Natasha rang the office bell and a smart looking male lawyer in dark suits walked in. Natasha briefed him and sent him off with the woman.
"Well, that's that" Natasha said as she then glanced at the time on her watch. It was almost 2:00pm and she had to rush off to her second therapy session. In no time she had grabbed her bag, and was headed to her BMW packed just outside her office.

On her way there, Natasha could not help but think of how horrible her first therapy session must have been for the therapist because she simply wouldn't let her guard down and open up. Being a lady who had had it pretty rough growing up and had been violated by the very man who was to protect her, who can blame her for being unable to open up to a male therapist? If not for her best friend Candice who had somehow managed to convince her to go for therapy and who had connected her to a therapist, she won't be attending any of such sessions. Candice just knew there was something wrong, Natasha’s hatred for the male sex was so noticeable even to a blind man. She of course can tolerate a man in a professional relationship, but if he should make the slightest advances at her, that was it. She would turn on him instantly. This was the exact reason why Candice got her a male therapist to prove that there are some good men out there.
Finally arriving at her therapist office, she knocked and Dr Martins deep baritone voice answered from inside, beckoning on her to come in.
"Hello there Natasha" he said as he arose from his seat.
“Hi Dr.” Natasha responded as her eyes quickly scanned him. “Well, he looks different from the first time where he looked so expensive and dressed up in a suit” she thought to herself.
This time he went for a casual look. His white T-shirt accentuated his well built biceps and triceps and he wore a simple blue jeans with a white pair of canvas. The only thing that was not exactly simple was his watch. It was a Rolex, and Natasha knew that his didn't come cheap.
“Feeling casual today?” Natasha finally asked.
“Oh yes, I wasn’t in the mood to look all dressed up” He said with a smile. “Having said that, Natasha do you mind if we don't have our session here today? These walls can be suffocating sometimes, if you would follow me, there's a garden with a mini fountain that I have just behind this door, he said pointing at the door behind his desk” it's always set up for meetings during days when natures calming effect is needed.
Natasha was ready to say no, but then there was something about the way he asked and the gaze from those brown eyes of his that was charming. Also, the day had been somewhat intense and Natasha could use mother nature’s soft touch.
"Very well then" Natasha said following him. As she stepped into the garden and sat on the seat provided, she had to agree, the place was amazing.

The plants made the place come alive, the water flowing from the fountain looked beautiful, and the lawn was so perfectly mowed that Natasha literally felt like removing her shoes and just placing the bare soles of her feet on the grass, but then she had to restrain herself. In a basket close to her seat were blue colored stress balls. Dr Martins always kept them close by to help ease his clients when things got intense.
After settling down, he offered her some drinking water and then closed his eyes for nearly fifteen seconds as he whispered something. Candice had told her that he is a Christian and his practice is to say quiet prayers before therapy sessions. After his prayers, his eyes popped open, he smiled and he started the session.
Seconds stretched to minutes, and then he asked the one question she had been avoiding. “Natasha, you seem like a great lady. I'm certain you were not born disliking men. Something happened to you. Talk to me Natasha, I cannot help you heal unless you show me your wounds”
Natasha shifted in her seat as a sign of uneasiness. This was a topic she dreaded. She had only shared her pain with the woman who raised her after her escape from her fathers house. Then, she had not gotten any form of professional help or spoken about it to another soul. Not even Candice fully understood the reason she is the way she is. She leaned down and grabbed one of those stress balls. Squeezing on the ball, she looked up and asked
“where do you want me to start from Martins?
“Let's take it from the beginning” he replied.
